This is a 3” x 5” oval hole cut in the pole shaft, with the major dimension along the vertical axis. It is provided with a curved cover to fit the exterior surface of the pole. The cover is attached with two self-tapping stainless steel Phillips-head screws. It is used in applications where strength requirements permit, such as in pedestal poles. The center of the handhole is usually 18” above the ground line.
